Power BI - Zero To Dashboard

Your boss has heard all the buzz about Power BI and wants you to start using it to make the business users happy and reduce the demands on IT staff. In this single day workshop, we review the capabilities of the Power BI suite of tools and help you realize the following objectives using demos and hands-on labs:


1. Understand the Power BI ecosystem and what it can and can't do for you.

2. Understand the importance of Data Cleansing.

3. Understand the importance of Data Modeling.

4. Understand data visualization principles.

5. Understand the implications of Power BI as it relates to governance.

6. Create a meaningful dashboard based on the previous objectives.

3. Microsoft Power BI Desktop requires Internet Explorer 10 or greater.

4. Signup for Power BI, it's free. If you cannot sign up for Power BI, that's okay, there is only one lab at the end that requires a Power BI account.

- Software Minimum: Windows (64-bit preferred): Windows 8 or Windows Server 2008 R2 Minimum Hardware: a computer with 2-cores and 4GB RAM (recommend 8GB or more) Microsoft Power BI Desktop requires Internet Explorer 10 or greater, however, you can use Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome.
What software and licences do they need?
- No licenses needed, Power BI desktop is free.
What is the structure of the day?
- It's a combination of educational content delivered via slide deck, followed by a hands-on learning lab (that we all complete together) to reinforce what was just learned.
What internet requirements do the delegates have?
- In order to be able to complete the final lab, they will need internet access.
What will the delegates get out of the day?
- Delegates will learn about the Power BI ecosystem and when to use what pieces of the ecosystem. They will also learn best practices and common patterns for using Power BI. There is a lab manual that is part of the course material that will be theirs to keep.
