Introducing the SQLBits Committee…

SQLBits began by a group of volunteers way back in 2007! The committee has changed since then, however we still have massive amounts of appreciation for the team behind Bits as they oraganise it every year in their spare time, so let’s get to know the team!

Simon Sabin

The education of people is at the heart and soul of what Simon and his company stand for and is epitomized by SQLBits. Simon, who has been an MVP and Microsoft Regional Director since 2005, runs his own data consultancy called Sabin.io, which enables companies to make the most of the data they have by helping them Understand and define cloud data platform strategies, allowing them to optimize their data platform, including performance, scalability, security, and certification.

Darren Green

Darren, who was awarded his first MVP award in 2002, specializes in data solutions with SQL Server and works as an independent consultant. Having been working with SQL Server from 6.5 onwards, he has extensive experience in many aspects of SQL Server but now focuses on solving problems with SQL Server and SSIS. Darren started SQLBits to help share knowledge and provide much-needed education to the masses.

Annette Allen

Annette, who was awarded her first MVP award in 2019, has been working with SQL Server for 15 years formerly as a Developer and now as a DBA which she moved into in 2015 at the University of Exeter, and when she’s not busy working with SQL she assists her husband, Jonathan, with the running of SQLSouthWest, the Cornwall/Devon SQL User Group based in Exeter. She started volunteering on the SQLBits committee to help share and distribute knowledge to the entire community to help everyone advance in their careers while having fun and making friends!

Alex Whittles

Alex is the owner and principal consultant at Purple Frog Systems, a SQL Server Business Intelligence consultancy, and he specializes in all aspects of dimensional data modeling, data warehousing, ETL, and cubes using the SQL Server stack! MVP Alex has an MSc in Business Intelligence, is a chartered engineer and is a member of Mensa, which he puts into sharing these skills at SQLBits to help benefit others. He is also a regular speaker at many SQL Server events around the world including SQL Relay, SQLBits, SQL Saturdays, 24 HOP, and the PASS Summit.

Jonathan Allen

MVP Jonathan has been dedicated to working with SQL Server since 1999 as he enjoys performance tuning, development, and using SQL Server to provide appropriate business solutions. He helped bring SQLBits to light as a Data professional working in the industry, to help give you content to provide you with what you need to be successful in this sector. He is the founder and leader of the PASS SQLSouthWest user group and enjoys blogging about it all for Simple Talk!

…and of course, we couldn’t be SQLBits if we didn’t have our awesome crew dressed in orange, who in their spare time come and help out at SQLBits, ranging from big tasks to small, you guys are EPIC

As well as those dressed in orange, Bits wouldn’t be what it is today without the help of Sneaky Experience! Julia’s team do a great job every year!
